What is the Nomad Residency?
Malta Nomad Residence Permit is a temporary residence permit issued to individuals (and their family members) that work remotely using telecommunications technologies. The nomad residence permit will be issued for one year. The permit is renewal at the discretion of the authority if the applicant still meets the set eligibility criteria. For Applicants interested in shorter stays, a visa will be issued with a duration of 91 to 180 days depending on the intention of the stay.
Eligibility:
Monthly income of EUR 2,700 gross of tax. (20% of the median wage for each family member added to the application).
Non-European Citizen
The person must prove that he/she can work remotely and independent of location, using telecommunications technologies and fall under the following categories:
work for an employer that is registered in a foreign country and have a contract of work;
conduct business activity for a company that is registered in a foreign country and of which applicant is a partner/shareholder; or
offer freelance or consulting services mostly to clients, whose permanent establishments are in a foreign country, and with whom the applicant has contracts.
