Welcome To Austria
The Austrian residency program offers the opportunity
to take up residency in Austria if the applicant can
provethat they are in possession of sufficient income
and/or assets.
This Austrian Residency program operates under an
annual quota. The authorities only approve circa 450
residence permits from all over Austria each year.
Austrian residence for financially independent persons
is governed by the provision of Article 44 of the Austrian
temporary and permanent residence law.
(Niederlassungs- und Aufenthaltsgesetz NAG).

Requirements

Age
Main applicant & spouse 18 year of age. Minor dependants: below 18 year of age

Bachelor's degree or above
If the main applicant does not hold a bachelor’s degree recognised in
Austria, then an A1 German Language certificate is needed.
The A1 German certificate is required to all dependants from 14 years old

Proof of Income
Main applicants must ensure available funds (e.g. bank deposits)
of circa €24,000 for a Single applicant. For a couple, circa €40,000
and an additional €3600 for each child included in the application.
Plus accommodation and health insurance costs in Austria.

Health Insurance
The main applicant and dependents must be covered by health
insurance from a company licensed in Austria.

Residency address
The applicant must rent or buy a suitable apartment and provide proof
thereof. ‘Suitable’ refers to an appropriate size: minimum 50 sq.m. for one
person and an additional 20 sq.m for each additional person. There is no
minimum price requirement for a rented or purchased property. The lease
agreement must start rent from 1st January.

Clean criminal records
Police clearance certificate not older than three months prior 1st January of each year.
Path to permanent Residence
The permanent resident status may be available after 1+1+3 years and subject to a command of German at the B1 level.
Path to Citizenship
Citizenship may be available for applicants that reside permanently and interruptedly in Austria
(at least 80% of the time), who have a secure and regular income, command of German language,
integrity and basic knowledge of the democratic order, fundamental rights, history of Austria and
the relevant federal province.
1st Option
After six years of continuous residency in
Austria, with a language certificate at B2 level.
2nd Option
After ten years of continuous residency in
Austria, of which five years with a permanent
residence permit and a command of German
at B1 level.
